The Barrasford Arms Restaurant and Country Pub is located close to Hadrian's Wall, and the Roman Forts of The Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolanda. The Tynedale region preserves some of the most spectacular sections of Hadrian's Wall. Nearly 2000 years ago this wall defined the Northern Frontier of Rome's mighty empire. Today Hadrian's Wall is a world heritage site. The market town of Hexham, with the stunning Hexham Abbey, offers all major services and is located a short drive from the Barrasford Arms.
The Barrasford Arms is the ideal place to experience all that Northumberland has to offer. The castles of Alnwick and Bamburgh are located on the stunning Northumberland coast as is the island of Lindesfarne, also known as Holy Island. Kielder Water and Kielder Forest Park are nearby.
Other places of interest nearby include Chipchase Castle gardens and nursery, the Hexham Border History Museum, Slaley Hall Golf Course and Aydon Castle. Fact sheets are available on arrival

us. It is claimed that Haughton Castle was at one time haunted by the bloodcurdling screams of Archie Armstrong, chief of the marauding Border Reivers. He had been thrown into the dungeons by Sir Thomas Swinburne, a seventeenth century Lord of Haughton, and inadvertently left to starve. The place was exorcised, but it was said that if a certain Bible is removed from the castle the haunting would be renewed.
